 Phonics:

Four mornings a week we have grouped phonic sessions, depending on the children's phonic knowledge.  We use the scheme  'Read, Write Inc' and participate in a range of activities each session, including flashcard recall, playing phonics games and completing written evidence. The children in Stream class are working on Set 2 sounds and their year 3/4 common exception words. Please see the set 2 sound mat below.

English

This term in Stream Class, your child will be given many opportunities to practice their Reading, Writing Transcription, Writing Comprehension, Spelling & Grammar.

We will be writing for a range of purposes and audiences.

During the Spring term our topics will include, extreme environments and weather from the Arctic to the hot deserts. We will find out about how people and wildlife adapt to survive in harsh conditions. The book we are learning about is called 'The Water Tower' by  Gary Crew and is set in Australia. We also have a week focused on PSHE and exploring our thoughts and feelings in a safe environment.
